Kanata Surfers Masters Swim Club!

Who are we?

We are a friendly, inclusive, community-oriented masters club that promotes fitness through swimming.

We are swimmers, runners, triathletes. We are working, retired, trying to retire, trying to work. We are parents, grand-parents, single, recently-wed. We are extreme. We are tame. We are teachers, bankers, techies, doctors, worker bees. We can be chatty. We are focused on improving and we can be competitive. But above all, we are fun-loving and adventurous!

We are a Registered Member of Masters Swimming Ontario . This provides insurance coverage and enables all members to enter sanctioned events. You will also receive their newsletter and information on other swimming events.

Who can join?

We welcome all swimmers over 20 who can swim approximately 1000 metres. If you enjoy swimming and want to focus on fitness through swimming, then you definitely want to learn more about the Surfers.

What can I expect?

We focus on promoting individual development at various levels of swimming and we swim (or try to swim) all four strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke and butterfly) during our practice sessions. We have an on-Deck Coach at every practice who helps each of us focus on skills development, stroke improvement, endurance and stamina building. They encourage us to participate in Swim Meets and Competitions, puts us through our paces via drills and a swim-schedule to alternate between distance-work and speed-work. Based on skill levels, a typical 1-hour practice session has each swimmer completing between 1500-2700 metres.

Practices & Fees

The Surfers swim three mornings a week, fees are dependent on the number of days (2 to 3) selected.
